A beautiful lady, full of spunk and vigor, a dreamer in the biggest sense. Suzanne Cannon was born on the 27th of November, 1936, into an amazing legacy of American settlers. Were they just stories, or were the tales that Suzanne would tell too crazy to believe, from the Puritan pilgrims birthing a new colony as they disembarked the Mayflower to the American Indian ancestors on the Trail of Tears, settling Oklahoma. All proudly ingrained in her family’s history if you would ask her. Suzanne spent most of her growing up years in Sand Springs, Oklahoma. Graduating from Charles Page High School in Sand Springs in 1955. A handsome young man there, named Joe, caught her eye, but that would have to wait for later… As soon as school was out, she was on her way to the eastern shore of Maryland to visit family for the summer. There, she met a tall, dark and handsome fellow that swept her off her feet and proposed marriage. Of course she couldn’t refuse. Dale Wesley Chapman and Suzanne made their way back to Sand Springs where they, with their parents blessing, were married on the 9th of September, 1955. Soon after, they welcomed their first born daughter, Linda Sue (’56), followed by Kimberley Christine (’61), then Lee Ann (’64). Dale and Suzanne pastored multiple churches and owned multiple Christian book stores over an expanse of more than 20 years, from Oklahoma to Maryland. Suzanne was always an evangelist at heart, a true lover of people, everyone she met was a friend. Dale and Suzanne attended Oklahoma Baptist University together where she studied vocal performance. Sadly, this union ended, but she was fortunate enough to run into Joe, that handsome young man from high school. Joe was a kind and loving man. Joe and Suzanne married on the 14th of June, 1991. They combined their families and made a home in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Suzanne retired as a bookkeeper not long after they were married. After Joe’s passing in 2002, Suzanne went to spend time with her daughters, Linda and Kimberley, and grandchildren in the United Kingdom for a number of years before returning back to the US. Suzanne peacefully passed away on the 20th of August, 2025 in the loving arms of her family. Suzanne is survived by her children, Linda Sue (David), Kimberley, LeeAnn (Andy), and Tim Cottman (Lisa), her 12 beloved grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Joe Cottman, her daughter Amy Twist (Cottman), her mother Esther Cannon (Dunten), her father Lester Cannon, and younger brother Gerald Cannon. Her family and friends are all welcomed to gather on Saturday, the 6th of September, 2025, to celebrate Suzanne’s incredible life at Dove Ministries,11 am CST, 2833 W. Main St., Jenks, OK 74037. Suzanne’s ashes will be spread privately by her family.
