Juanita (Bowling) Snyder McCoy passed from this life on Sunday, April 26, 2020, in Cleveland, Oklahoma, with her husband at her side. She was born on October 14, 1928, in Tonkawa, Oklahoma. She was the first child of her parents, William Walter Bowling and Amy Gertrude (Thompson) Bowling. Juanita was raised in Three Sands, Oklahoma; this is also where she graduated high school. She also attended the junior college in Tonkawa and graduated with a commerce degree. Her first job was in Tulsa, Oklahoma, for Bell Telephone. During her time working in Tulsa, she stayed at the Tulsa YWCA. At this time, Juanita's father worked for Shell Oil and was transferred to Hoisington, Kansas; her mother told her to come home. She quit her job and moved to Hoisington to be with her family. As the oldest child, she always felt a strong bond to her parents and younger siblings. In Hoisington, she found employment with John Henry Lewis, a local attorney. Juanita had an old friend from school, Jack Hudson Snyder that had returned home after serving in the Navy with the Occupation Force in Japan. Juanita and Jack married in February of 1949, in Hoisington, Kansas. The couple welcomed their first child, William Robert Snyder, on December 21, 1949. Jack worked in the oil industry following the drilling rigs during the early years of their marriage. They once lived, for a short period of time, in a railroad box car due to the shortage of housing. They eventually settled in Houma, Louisiana, where Jack found work on the offshore rigs. Juanita and Jack welcomed their second son, Thomas Jackson Snyder who was born on November 19, 1960. Juanita found work as an Underwriter for a Marine Insurance Company and later worked for the Library System in Houma, Louisiana. After her father's death in 1977 and her husband's death in 1984, her mother's health started to deteriorate, and she could no longer live alone. Juanita decided to move to Cleveland, Oklahoma, to care for her mother. While living in Cleveland, she met the companion of her heart, Walter McCoy. After falling in love, Walter and Juanita married at her brother and sister in laws home west of Cleveland, with all of their family and friends in attendance. Walter would describe Juanita as a loving wife and their date of marriage as their best and most special day together. Juanita had an amazing personality and was known to be an avid reader. During her free time, she also enjoyed spending time at the casino playing the games and visiting with people. Juanita was preceded in death by her parents William Walter Bowling and Amy Gertrude ( Thompson) Bowling, first husband Jack Hudson Snyder, older son William Robert Snyder, infant sister Barbara Jean Bowling, brother and sister-in-law William Lee Bowling and Mavis, and brother-in-law Bud E. Livingston. She is survived by her husband Walter McCoy of Cleveland, Oklahoma, son Thomas Jackson Bowling of Tennessee, sister Ann Livingston of Bristow, Oklahoma, sisters Jesse Carolyn Bowling and Ada Lou Bowling both of Wichita, Kansas, along with many other family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
