Frederick Alan Kelley

Frederick "Fred" Alan Kelley passed away on Wednesday January 8, 2020 at 74 years old. He left this world peacefully and with loved ones surrounding him. While it pains us that he is no longer here with us, we know he is rejoicing in heaven with all those who loved him. Fred leaves behind his two best friends and surviving siblings; Brother, Steve Kelley and wife Mary Kelley of Colorado Springs, CO. Sister, Rita Langford and husband Ron Langford of Claremore, OK. Two Nieces and three Nephews; Niece, Stephanie Gardner and husband David Gardner of Las Animas, CO. Nephew, Jess Kelley of Pueblo, CO. Nephew, Troy Langford and his wife Rebecca Langford of La Junta, CO. Nephew, Travis Langford and his wife Katy Langford of Owasso, OK. Niece, Kelley Langford and her significant other Dale Baird of Owasso, OK. He has four Great Nephews and One Great Niece; Jack, Luke, Sydney, Daxton, and Austin. Fred is preceded in death by his beloved Parents; Father, Jack Wayne Kelley, and Mother, Dorothy Mae "Senn" Kelley. Fred Kelley was born in Marceline, Missouri on October 17, 1945 and was the eldest of three children. He took great satisfaction in being the "big brother" and was extremely caring, supportive, and protective of his younger siblings, even as they grew into adulthood. Fred was a star football player where he played guard on offense and inside linebacker in defense for the Marceline Tigers. He still holds the record for most solo tackles during a game. Fred graduated from Marceline, Missouri in 1963 and went on to follow his father's footsteps working for BNSF Railway where he worked until he retired as a Conductor in 2005. He was a loving, devoted son who spent years watching over his mother after his father passed away. He did it with great honor and pride. Together, he and his mother owned a home in Emporia, Kansas where he enjoyed doing yard work and always kept an immaculate lawn and garden. Never married, nor having children of his own; Fred treated his nieces and nephews as if they were his own where countless and everlasting memories were made. In 2006 Fred moved to Owasso, Oklahoma to be near his sister, Rita, and her family after his retirement and passing of their beloved mother. They bought a home in Claremore, Oklahoma where they still reside. Fred will most be remembered for being a jolly, tender hearted man who was well respected and liked by all who knew him. He was very knowledgeable and informative in almost any conversation he carried and was a very animated story teller who found delight in reminiscing on the past. Fred was someone you could always rely upon. Whether it be for advise or a helping hand, Fred would always be there. He was extremely compassionate and a big "teddy bear" who would do anything for his friends and family. Fred absolutely loved fishing. So much that he had probably every fishing lure and rod that you could think of and he custom built fishing poles as a hobby in his spare time. In his younger years, Fred enjoyed hunting, having Pointers as his canine companions. He also enjoyed camping and playing various card games with his family. There will be a memorial service for Fred in conjunction with his dear Sister, Rita, who passed just weeks after him on February 4th. Services will be held on February 29th at 11am at the Wyandotte United Methodist Church located at 7901 Oakland Ave, Kansas City, KS 66112.
