David Lee Flanigan

Our beloved dad! Although we are saddened to announce the passing of our beloved father, David Lee Flanigan, age 72, of Tulsa, OK; we are at peace and come together and celebrate his earthly journey. David was born on August 28, 1950 in Tulsa, OK, son of Leeroy and Bonnie Beatrice (Wardrip) Flanigan. He passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa, OK. David was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. He was a mechanic and worked at Pine Street Auto Salvage until his health forced an early retirement. David was the most hardworking man you would ever meet. He never stopped working even when he was supposed to be relaxing and taking it easy, the words "take it easy" were not in his vocabulary. Even though mechanic was his profession by choice; some would think that he was a jack of all trades. David was resourceful and there was nothing that he could not achieve. When you could get him to slow down and take a break you could find him watching Star Trek, Matlock, or Law and Order. He enjoyed being outdoors and loved his fur babies Charlie, Lacy, Oscar, Cry baby, Grey Poupon, Alice, Leaf, Peanut, and Binx. David was always helping others, even if it meant giving you the shirt that he had on his back. He had a soft, kind, and gentle heart; too big for his own good at times. There are many neighborhood kids that would be happy and proud to call David their dad, he was always there to give advice, or lend a hand when needed. He is loved very much and will be deeply missed. He is survived by his children, son David Flanigan (Linda) of San Antonio, TX; daughter Theresa Darnell and husband Daniel of Tulsa, OK; daughter Daneta Flanigan of New Castle, IN; daughter Danessa Hall and husband Christopher of New Castle, IN; son Dustin Flanigan of New Castle, IN; and daughter, Malissa Barton and husband Johnathan of Ravenna, TX; 14 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren; partner and friend Betty Jo Dickerson of PA; in addition to many extended family members and friends. David is preceded in death by his parents Leeroy and Bonnie Flanigan and grandson Michael Flanigan. To honor David's wishes cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funerals and Crematory in Tulsa, OK. At this time a celebration of life gathering is pending at the request of family and friends.
