Carmen Alecia Gaines

May 29th, 1961 a baby girl, the 8th of nine Carmen Alecia Watson was born to Tiller, Sr. and Geneva Watson. Carmen being the baby girl was the love of her dad's eye! An accomplished pianist (not).... Saturdays were supposed to be "Piano Lessons:. She didn't make many. She had a way of persuading him to skip the lessons and they would often visit Jim's Hamburger, returning home smelling of onions, and with a big smile on her face. For many Carmen was known as "Candy". Very outgoing, energetic, and funny; always had a smile; and knew everybody's business... Candy accepted Christ at an early age at the Friendship Baptist Church under the leadership of the later Rev. L.L. Tisdale She attended Emerson Elementary, Roosevelt Jr. High, and graduated from Central High School in 1979. She also attended Langston University, and later moved to Germany where she lived while in the service for 5 years. Once back in the U.S. she met and married Kennith Ray Gaines. As love blossomed so did her family of 2 daughters Alecia, Rayla, and son DJ (Floyd), and step-daughter Courtney. As her career in the medical field became her passion, after working in various other professions including the banking industry. Candy was passionate for the Lord having recently re-dedicated her life and having been re-baptized. Candy was truly her Pastor's biggest cheerleader. Her love and support for her church rarely kept her from attending service in spite of her medical conditions. One thing about Candy is that she wasn't afraid to praise the Lord. Both parents and 2 brothers Arthur and Floyd preceded her home going. Those left to cherish her beautiful memories are her husband Kennith, her children, and those "precious amazing grand babies"! Braelon, Raigen, Nyla, Thomas Jr. Taylor, and Ryan. Her siblings Carol of Tulsa, OK, Tiller (Pam) of Tulsa, OK, Ann of Houston, TX, Paulette of Tulsa, OK, Bennie (Kathy) of Tulsa, OK, Todd (Cheryl) of Tulsa, OK, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends, and very special childhood friends Kim, Lynn, and Chantal. A time of visitation will be held on Friday May 12, 2017 at Serenity Funeral Home & Crematory Chapel from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A celebration of life service for Carmen Alecia Gaines will be held on Saturday May 13, 2017 at the Friendship Baptist Church in Tulsa, OK at 11:00 am.
