Betty Lee Elliott was born on April 17, 1947, in Starkville, Mississippi, to Epluribus Elliott Sr. and Martha Ann Elliott. She was one of thirteen children and was raised in a large, loving family that helped shape the compassionate, joyful, and faithful woman she became. Betty accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and was baptized at Antioch Third Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Stewart. Her love for Jesus was the foundation of her life and remained steadfast throughout the years. She faithfully attended church with her family, found great joy in worship, loved listening to gospel music, and attended Henderson High School, where she excelled in mathematics. Betty later met and married J.W. Watson, Jr. Together they made their home in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where they lovingly raised six children. Betty devoted many years to being a caring wife, devoted mother, creating a home filled with faith, laughter, love, and cherished memories. Later in life, she joined the team at Restore Hope Ministries, where her compassion, kindness, and servant’s heart touched the lives of both her coworkers and those she served. She was deeply respected and loved by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Betty embraced life with enthusiasm and found joy in both the simple moments and new adventures. She loved cooking for her family, dancing, completing jigsaw puzzles, working word searches, trying new things, and spending time with the people she loved. She also had a special gift for doing hair and was known for how beautifully she styled it, always helping people look and feel their best. Her joyful spirit was contagious, and her warm smile could brighten any room. More than anything, Betty loved people. She never met a stranger and had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel welcomed, valued, and loved. She was a light wherever she went, bringing joy, hope, and comfort to everyone she encountered. Whether through a warm meal, an encouraging word, a listening ear, or a helping hand, Betty reflected the love of Christ in everything she did. Her beautiful smile, genuine compassion, and unwavering faith left an unforgettable mark on countless lives. Betty leaves behind a beautiful legacy of faith, love, and service. She is lovingly remembered by her six children: Anthony (Christi) Watson, Angela (Wilbert Jr) Johnson, Tammie (Leroy Jr) Keys, J.W. (Annie) Watson III, Chastity Watson, and Eric Watson; 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; her loving siblings, Emma Austin, Howard Elliott, Earl Elliott, Gloria Hawkins, Denise (Frank) Shields, and Renee (Gavin) Bullock; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, dear friends, and countless others whose lives were forever touched by her love and kindness. Preceding her were her parents, her husband, and four siblings. Though she will be deeply missed, her faith was unwavering, her compassion was limitless, and the impact she made on the lives of others is a legacy that will live on for generations. “Well done, good and faithful servant.” Matthew 25:23
