Mary Jean Meek

After many years of battling several illnesses Jeanne was finally called home to be with our Lord February 17, 2021. She died peacefully in her sleep at home after saying goodbye to all her family. Born February 7, 1944, in Cushing, OK, Jeanne grew up in Tulsa, graduating from Edison HS in 1962, and the University of Tulsa in 1966, where she met her future husband on a blind date. She married Maxwell E. "Major" Meek in 1966, moving to Ann Arbor, MI, where Major obtained his MBA. In 1967, they moved to Ponca City, OK, where Major began his banking career. For the next 11 years in Ponca Jeanne was busy raising their 5 children, and working with various volunteer and social organizations such as Cub Scouts, Blue Birds, PEO, Garden Club, 20th Century Club, Chi Omega Alumni, and Grace Episcopal Church. In 1981 Jeanne and her family moved to Atlanta to establish an office for Primerica, returning to Tulsa in 1986, to establish another Primerica office. Several years later she left the financial world to follow her real passion, Interior Design, working for Norwalk Furniture/Luxe Home Interiors, becoming one of the company's top 10 national sales leaders. Later she worked for Ethan Allen, and opened and managed Tulsa's Rug Fashion Store. In her spare time she loved to paint still life, master trivia, read, go on cruises, and visit the OBX of NC. She retired in 2016, to travel and spend more time with their 14 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. Jeanne is survived by, Major at home in Tulsa, children Kemper (Shannon) Meek of Choctaw, OK, Courtney (Dave) Kelly of St. Louis, Kendall (Mark) Rempe of Richmond, VA, Cassandra (Patrick) Carter of Tulsa, Christian (Kristie) Meek of Edmond, OK, parents Jack E. and Betty J. Thomas of Tulsa, grandchildren Kristen, Braden, and Caitlyn Meek, twins Colin and Cassi Schwab, Brockman, Josie, and Pierce Rempe, Cross, Cosby and R. Chapman Carter, Mason, Morgan, and Madden Meek, great grandchildren James, Elijah, and Brett Robertson, Sophia Meek, brother Randall (Melissa) Thomas, sister Debra (Dave) Wagenblatt, sisters-in-law Leslie (Tony) Fitch, Susan (Steven) Nuner, brother-in-law Jon Meek, and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces. Jeanne was a long-time Episcopalian. A private funeral service will be on Saturday, March 20th at 2:00 pm. The service will be at Christ Church Episcopal and will offer a live streamed option at christchurchtulsa.online.church In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Jeanne Meek Memorial Fund at Christ Church, 10901 S.
