Anthony Alveno Johnson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

On Tuesday, March 22, 2022, Anthony (AJ) Alveno Johnson, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, cousin and uncle passed away peacefully in his sleep at age sixty in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Anthony was born June 01, 1961 in Gary, Indiana to Lonnie and Lois (Hillsman) Johnson. He was raised in Gary, IN, and attended Roosevelt High School. While working at Holiday Inn in Lansing, IL, he met Anita Kunka. On December 2, 1998 he married Anita in Tulsa, Oklahoma where they shared many happy years of life together. Anthony was known for having a heart of gold. He loved to help others and make people smile. He had a genuine heart and a great sense of humor. Anthony was full of life and able to bring happiness, love and laughter to all people who surrounded him. He enjoyed making memories with the people he loved. Anthony was known for being kind, generous, sweet, loving, happy and genuinely fun to be around and was a life-long Chicago Bears fan. He worked at Saint Francis hospital, spending the last six years with a company he loved. Anthony had a passion for cooking. He loved to cook for other people and enjoy the company of those he loved. He was an avid Michael Jackson music fan. He was known for his infectious smile and his kind and compassionate spirit. He loved spending time with his best dog friends named Snookie, Cookie, and Foxie. They were always at his side or in his lap. Anthony touched the lives of many people; he will be greatly missed by all. Anthony was preceded in death by his wife Anita Johnson, parents Lonnie and Lois Johnson, and step-great grandchild Jaleel Gertz. He is survived by his long-time companion Luz Vaca and their children: Christina Vaca, Jennifer Vaca, and Stephanie (Jason) Vaca. Stepchildren: Holly Gertz, Jennifer Gertz, David (Tina) Gertz. Grandchildren: Jayden Vaca, Estella Vaca, Gabrielle Vaca, Lillianna Vaca and Isaiah Vaca. Step-grandchildren: Mikyle Gertz, Chloe (Paul) Gertz, Reggie Gertz, Justin (Tashana) Gertz, Selena Pedraza, Hannah Gertz, Riley Gertz and Farah Gertz. Step-great-grandchildren: Mikai Gertz, Makiyah Green, Nalani Gertz, Princeton Gertz, Paxton Gertz, Ryder Gertz, Maeve Gertz, Arianna Gertz, Tamaris Gertz, Jushya Gertz, Justin Jr. Gertz and Amirah Gertz. Siblings: Deborah (Maurice) Eddie; Robert (Victoria) Johnson, Lonnie (Alora) Johnson, Timothy (LuTisha) Johnson, Ricky (Gwen) Johnson and Yolanda (Keith) Dowdell. Nieces: LaTosha (Kevin) Knight, Melissa Eddie, and Tonya (James) Ivory. Nephews: Robert Johnson Jr., Lonnie Lavelle Johnson Jr., Patrick Butler, Garron Lewis, Anthony Johnson, Brian Johnson, Brandon Johnson and amongst many other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who will cherish his memory forever. A memorial service will be held for Anthony on Friday, June 24, 2022 at Serenity Funerals and Crematory Visitation Hall located at 4170 East Admiral Place in Tulsa, Ok 74115 at 11am; a gathering to follow afterward at 12pm. All expressions of sympathy are welcome including flowers and cards.
