Alfred "Smitty" Smith
February 21, 1932 - March 3, 2022
Today we celebrate the life of Alfred "Smitty" Smith, born February 21, 1932, to Alexander and Tereancia Smith in the beautiful British Virgin Islands in the town of Tortola. As the 2nd eldest of 10 children, Alfred left his schooling to help care for his younger siblings. Over the years, Alfred worked as a fisherman and mason. Alfred soon met and married Icena Turnbull of Tortola. Together they had five children; Mrs. Janet Takecare (Tulsa, OK), Mrs. Annette Diggs-Hodge (Glenpool, OK), Mrs. Juliet Smith (Boston, MA), Mrs. Lynette White (Long Island, NY), and Mr. Romeo Smith (Stony Point, NY) Alfred perfected his craft in St. Thomas of the U.S. Virgin Islands until retirement 25 years ago. In 2006 Alfred moved to the United States to be closer to his children. Alfred lived with his daughter, Annette, and son-in-law Mike Hodge. While living in Glenpool, OK, Alfred enjoyed traveling to visit his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren until his passing. Alfred enjoyed moments with his extended family and those close to his heart, like Karen Stanhope, Charlene Freeman, and Perma Harris-James . Alfred is reunited with his parents and siblings Wilfred Smith, Randolph Smith, Beatrice Purcell, Iantha Stanley, and Estelle Smith. Alfred is a proud grandfather to 16 and a great grandfather to 21. On the surface, you will be missed, but your love will be present always now and after.
