Wilma Ilene Waters

Wilma Ilene Waters was born on April 21, 1947 in Joplin Missouri to Joe and Betty Petty. She earned her wings and crown on July 3, 2020 at the age of 73. Wilma and James were married in August of 1964 and enjoyed 55 years of marriage together. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She had an enormous love for our Lord and Savior. She enjoyed going to church, teaching Bible class to the younger kids, and being a counselor at church camp. She loved going camping and fishing with her husband James and her family. She loved planting and growing flowers, and loved having a vegetable garden. She enjoyed watching the humming birds outside the living Room window. She also had a great sense of humor. She loved spending time with her grandkids, great grandson, and family. Her favorite holiday was Christmas because it meant we were all going to be together and she loved putting out all of her Christmas decorations. She loved old country music and old church hymns. Her favorite bible verses were John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, for that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." and Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." She greatly loved her family and friends. She touched many lives, hearts, and souls. She will be missed beyond measure. This is not goodbye, it's until we meet again in heaven. She was preceded by her father Joe Petty and mother Betty Petty, her baby sister Imagene Petty, and brother John Petty. She is survived by her loving husband James Waters of Vinita, Ok., Daughter Pam Lucas and husband Darren of Glenpool, Ok., Daughter Shelli D'Souza of Vinita, Ok., Granddaughter Brittany Nasworthy and husband Justin and great grandson Lucas of Glenpool, Ok., Granddaughter Ashley Lucas of Glenpool Ok., Grandson Christopher Lucas of Bixby, Ok., Brother Jerry Petty and wife Kathy of Carl Junction, Mo., Sister JoAnn Wellmeier of Joplin, Mo., Sister Mary Wier and husband Bob of Joplin, Mo., and Brother Stanley Petty and wife Marta of Joplin, Mo. Amongst numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. A funeral service will be held in Wilma's honor at Serenity Funerals and Crematory chapel on Friday, July 10, 2020 at 4:00 PM.
