Verlene Moore

Verlene Wright was born to Vernon Wright Sr. and Lillie B. (Golston) Wright in French Camp, California on November 28th, 1946. Shortly after her birth, her family relocated to Idabel, Oklahoma. Verlene was the first born and the only daughter of 5 children. Verlene graduated from Riverside High School (now known as Idabel High School) in 1964. She played basketball all of her high school career and was known as the star on her team. She was very smart, well loved, and very respected by her friends and peers. In October of 1964, she married Edward Moore and shortly after, they welcomed their first child. Verlene and Edward moved to Tulsa in 1967 where their family continued to grow! There were 7 children born within their union. She was very outspoken and friendly! She loved dancing and hanging with her friends. She most certainly was the life of every party she attended. She loved making memories and taking pictures. Her favorite hobby was BINGO and she loved to go out to eat. A couple of her favorite restaurants were Freeway Cafe, Burger Street, Schlotzsky's and Golden Corral. She had a dog by the name of Terk who she loved and who loved her just as much. "Meema" was a nickname that was given to her by her grandchildren. Meema loved her grandchildren so much and helped raise many of them. Meema never met a stranger! She will be dearly missed by all who knew her kind spirit. Verlene has 3 brothers who preceded her in death: Vernon Wright Jr., Donell Wright, and David Lee Murphy, as well as one child: Theresa Moore. Verlene departed the earth on September, 9th, 2023. To cherish her memories and continue her legacy, she leaves one brother: James Wright, her children: Timothy Moore (Kimberly Moore), Keith Moore (Betty Moore), Chris Moore (Kimberly Moore), Jennifer Murphy (Frank Murphy), Wendy Moore-Collins (Tony Collins), and Mistie Moore along with a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relatives and friends. Words of Gratitude from Family Words cannot express how grateful we are for your love, words of kindness and comfort, your deed of thoughtfulness, and most importantly, your prayers during our time of bereavement. Thank you and may the Lord bless you for being a blessing to us. - The family of Verlene Moore Visitation will be 3pm to 8pm Thursday September 21, 2023 at Serenity Funerals and Cremation Chapel. Funeral will be 11am Friday September 22, 2023 at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 3427 N Birmingham Place, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at Green Acres Cemetery.
