Raymond Lee Otwell

Raymond Lee "R.L." Otwell was born on June 5, 1960 to Sergeant Johnny Lee Otwell and Dorothy Lucille Haynie, in Waco Texas. Raymond was baptized in the United Pentecostal Church in 1975 and received the baptism of the Holy Ghost, he never forgot where he came from or the Sunday school bus that picked him up and changed his life. It was UPCI Church youth camp that brought him to meet and marry the love of his life Lori Ellen Rose, on October 10, 1981. Together they had 3 children, Heather Kay Cherie, Amber Nicole, and Dustin Blake Otwell. From 1984-1987 He served in the United Stated Air Force as a jet mechanic. Raymond was a jack of all trades, he worked as a machinist, mechanic and finally retired as a carpentry. He loved to work with his hands and build, he taught his son Dustin a thing or two about carpentry. He divorced in 1995, Raymond never really got over it, and loved Lori, even after her death in 2010. However, he did find love again and spent the last 13 years with his loving companion Armru Gatewood of Tulsa, Oklahoma. They enjoyed thrifting, flea markets and spending time with the grandchildren. She was the last to hear from him and he wished her a Happy Valentines and said I love you. Raymond never met a stranger, and had a warm and friendly charismatic personality, he always knew regardless of how he lived his own life that Jesus was the answer to all ones problems. Even in his lowest times, he was interested in others and concerned for their well-being. He had a big heart and was generous to a fault. He is preceded in death by his parents Johnny Lee Otwell, and mother Dorothy Lucille Haynie. And ex-wife, Lori Ellen Rose. He is survived by his loving companion in life Armru Gatewood, Tulsa Ok and their grandchildren Xavier Jones and Jeremy Armstead Jr. His sister Lynn Felts, Tx. His brother Ricky Felts, Tx. His daughter Heather Kay Cherie Garfinkle and son-in-law Kevin Garfinkle, grand children Asher Zane Garfinkle, Haleigh Kay Rose Garfinkle, Arik Zachariah Garfinkle, Dehklan Adrieyl Zander Garfinkle of Hollywood, FL. His daughter Amber Nicole Hogsten and son-in-law Aaron Douglas Hogsten, grandson Timothy Douglas Hogsten of Diboll, Tx. His son Dustin Blake Otwell of Albuquerqe, NM. Graveside committal service to be held March 27, 2023, South Florida National Cemetery. In the lieu of flowers donations can be made to the family.
