Kenneth LeRoy McCreary, Sr. Born: May 16, 1946 Died at the age of 73 on January 29, 2019 Ken is survived by his children Dawn and Scott Smith, Sr. and Kenneth and Robyn McCreary, Jr. Grandchildren Scott and Victoria Smith, Jr. Sarah and Shawn Bales, Seth Smith and Shanon Smith; Joseph McCreary and Katrina McCreary. His mother Mildred E. Smith, Siblings Janet Miller, Pattie and Lee Storey, and Timothy and Nancy Smith. His first wife Anita Vickers. Followed by a whole crew of Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. Ken is proceeded in Death by his father Jack McCreary, step father James W. Smith, Wife Leta McCreary, Sister Belinda Simpson, Maternal and Paternal Grandparents, aunts, uncles and some cousins. Kenneth L. McCreary was born in Tulsa, Ok to Jack and Mildred McCreary. He graduated for McClain High School in 1964. After high school, he married the mother of his two children, Anita. Then went onto the Airforce where he served as an Air Tactical Specialist in the Vietnam War. After being Honorably discharged from the Airforce, he became a Tulsa Police Officer where he met his second wife Leta. Ken went on to have several security and various patrol jobs, prior to becoming a Cherokee Nation Marshall which he was very proud of. Ken was a proud member of the Cherokee Tribe and a lifetime member of the VFW Post 577, where he has held many officer positions over the years. Ken known as Kenny to friends and family lived his life to the fullest down to very end. He didn't let much get in the way of he wanted to do and a lot of that included spending time with his very large family. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding horses, and spent most of his childhood running around with his younger siblings and cousins. Later he enjoyed riding motorcycles with his son, brother and nephews; or anybody that would go. He loved traveling and his most recent endeavors included his dream to travel to Scotland and Ireland. He never set idle and volunteered for many veteran affairs and activities. He loved his momma, kids, grandkids, and family dearly and was always there when you needed him. Kenny continued to have big plans for the future and upcoming events, and it has been left to us as family and friends to continue his legacy. There is an unbelievable void that is left behind from his passing, including his many activities, big ol' bears hugs, jolly laughter, teasing ways, whole hearted smile, and love that he gave to everyone he came in contact with. In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be given to any services related organizations as that was very important to Ken. Graveside services to be held at Fort Gibson National Cemetery, 1423 Cemetery Road, Fort Gibson, OK 74434; on February 15, 2019 at 1300 (1PM), follow by a memorial party in the Tulsa area (location TBD).
