Gerald "Leon" Russell

August 8, 1939 - May 9, 2012 Biography Gerald "Leon" Russell passed away Wednesday May 9, 2012 after a long illness at the age of 72. He was born in Tulsa, OK at Hillcrest Hospital on August 8, 1939. He was the oldest of 3 children born to Gail Borden and Ina Russell. After graduating from Rogers High School he joined the Air Force National Guard and attended the University of Tulsa. Upon his graduation he married the love of his life Natalie Hulsey Russell. They celebrated 50 years together on March 17, 2012. He worked and continued going to school while he built his family. By the time he wanted to move to California to get his law degree they already had their 3 children. He continued this hectic schedule until he finally reached his goal of Juris Doctorate. Instead of going into law he opened an insurance agency of his own as he had been working in insurance for years. He always said he would never retire and worked diligently until he suffered a major stroke in 2004 forcing his retirement and their move back to Oklahoma. Leon had many interest and collections, but his most favorite was probably classic and antique cars. He was a longtime member of the Order of Oddfellows as was his father. Leon and Natalie joined Asbury Methodist Church shortly after coming back to Tulsa. Leon is survived by his beloved wife, Natalie Russell and his sister Jenny Malone of the home; daughter Robyn Marrujo of California; son Todd Russell of Tulsa; daughter Shannon McFarland of Montana; grandchildren Patrick, Andrew, Logan and Lillian Lambert of Montana; Antoinette Marrujo of California; and great grandchild Zoey Zavala of California. He also had nephews, great nieces and lots of other family and friends. He was well loved and respected by all those who knew him.
