Donald Eugene Young,

March 6, 1950 - June 13, 2012 Biography Don was born March 6, 1950, in Jacksonville, Florida, and passed from this life at Clarehouse in Tulsa on June 13, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer. He moved to Tulsa at the age of six months. Don attended Saints Peter and Paul School through eighth grade and was always proud that he was an ordained altar boy. He then attended Bell Junior High and graduated from Nathan Hale High School. He also attended NEO. Don served the citizens of Tulsa for over 20 years as a Tulsa firefighter and served in the Oklahoma Army National Guard. His love and passion was auto racing. He was a well-known flagman at many race tracks in Oklahoma and also Kansas. For fifteen years he drove stock cars and earned 13 Top Ten jackets which he proudly displayed as trophies. They were proof of his talent and passion for the sport. The last five years of his life he drove the pace car for the Oil Capital Racing Series. Owning his own business was one of Don’s latest and proudest accomplishments. He and his wife Pat created the D&P Escort Service. Don decked out his pickup truck and escorted oversize loads across all four corners of the country and into Canada. Don was preceded in death by mother Marjorie Reynolds, father Don Young, brother Gary Young, grandmother Edith Thomas and grandfather Harry Pilkington. He is survived by his wife Patricia; children - Amy Dawn Young, Margeana Young, Serona Young, Cheryl (Ricky) Shadrick, Kathy (Robert) McLain and Michael Rice. mother Peggy Young; grandmother Maxine Pilkington; brothers - Bill (Robin)Tallon and Jimmy Tallon; sister-in-law Francie Young; grandchildren – Gary, Damion and Kara Young; Jamie McLain; Kelsey and Gavin Shadrick; Robert and Patrick Rice; nieces Kimberly Lucht, Holly and Bethany Tallon; many other loving family members and friends. Don was a wonderful person who loved life, family and friends. His big smile, fantastic personality and compassion will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
