Brenda J McDonald On July 13, 1952, in Sandtown, Oklahoma, a beautiful baby girl was born to Benjamin H. Tart, Sr. and Verbeana Tart. They named her Brenda Joyce. She was the first child born of this union. Brenda received her formal education from Wagoner Public Schools. She graduated high school in 1970. Brenda graduated from Northeastern Oklahoma State University in Tahlequah, OK in 1974 with a Bachelor’s degree in Education/Accounting. Brenda first entered the workforce at age 16. She was employed with Tulsa Public Schools (Teacher), Matrix Fabrication and Thrifty Car Rental (Accounts Payable Clerk), Citgo Petroleum (Tax Analyst), McMichael Concrete (Accounts Assistant), First National Bank of Tulsa (Adjustment Clerk) and various temporary jobs. She reluctantly retired from Tulsa Public Schools due to health related reasons in May of 2013, after 10 years of service. Brenda accepted Christ at an early age. She was a member of Sandtown Baptist Church, Wagoner OK and The Church of God in Christ, Inola, OK in her youth. As an adult, Brenda was a member of the Church of the Living God, Tulsa, OK for many, many years. Here she served as bus driver, kitchen staff, Sunday school teacher, mission circle #3 member, usher and speaker. She kept the faith until the very end. Brenda loved her children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews and all other relatives and friends. Brenda was preceded in death by her parents (Benjamin H., Sr and Verbeana Tart), one brother (Neal Tart), and two sisters (Doretha Robinson and Doris Harmon). Brenda leaves to cherish her memory two daughters Verbeana Hatton (Timothy) and Michelle McDonald, of Dallas, TX; two sisters Vanessa Tart Benson (Gene), of Wagoner, OK and Aleta Anderson (Anthony), of Midwest City, OK; four brothers Benjamin Tart, Jr (Lynetta), Joe Tart and Thomas Tart, of Tulsa, OK and John Tart, of Midwest City, OK.; five grand-children Timothy (TJ), Tyler, Victoria and Trevor Hatton and LaKeira Randall, all of Dallas, TX; Aunt Bobbie Hardin of Paris, CA; Janice Beckman (my favorite Aunt and best friend), of Tulsa, OK; and my Uncle Steven Morris (who is like my brother), of Wagoner, OK as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
