Barbara Lea Byers

Barbara "Barby" Lea Byers, age 62 passed this life on Saturday November 25th, 2023, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She entered this world on Friday November 10th, 1961, to her parents Euell "Bo" G. and Margaret Bess Byers in Houston, Texas. Barby was born and raised in Houston, Texas and lived in many different cities in Texas before making the move to Oklahoma. She met her former husband Charles "Chuck" Ronald Holmes in San Antonio, Texas, and then moved to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma where she would then spend the rest of her life. In the union of Barby and Chuck, came two children who meant the world to her. She loved her family dearly. Barby was a "Daddy's Girl", her mother's ally, and her big sister's best friend. She was a child of God and walked by her faith. Her children and grandson were the most precious to her and she would protect them at all cost. She made sure to make everything and everyone feel special. She could also make any mundane situation special. She knew how to make things fun, even when they weren't. She was a good person to be around and was loved by all. Barby was a giver who had a big heart, sweet spirit, and was generous to a fault. Her favorite color was green, just like her gorgeous green eyes. She loved animals. She would always rescue dogs off the street. She had a love for dogs that made her rescuing so easy to achieve. She always thought about how she can make others happy and always wanted the best for others, this is why one of her favorite songs was "My Wish" by Rascal Flatts Because of all these amazing traits, Barby gained so many people in her life that are now left to love and cherish her legacy. She is preceded in death by her parents Euell "Bo" G. Byers and Margaret Bess (Rix) Byers. Barby is survived by her son Charles "Chase" Byers Holmes; daughter Kaylea Hunter Merritt and her spouse Jacob Merritt; grandson Lukas Merritt; and sister Elizabeth Rebecca "Becky" Byers-Whalen Stout; along with other family members and friends who will miss her dearly. A memorial service will be held to honor Barbys life on Friday, December 1st, 2023 at 2PM at Serenity Funeral Home Chapel located at 4170 E. Admiral Pl., Tulsa, OK 74115. There will be a reception to follow the service.
